WHAT IS THE
FOX TERRIER NETWORK?
WHAT WE DO
Words of Wisdom from Professor Foxdoodle
"Now this is my kind of month. One dedicated to humans cooking and dogs eating. You KNOW you're going to get some of that turkey. Humans are such easy victims of guilt. Just stare at them mournfully, sniff the air appreciatively, and a day later you'll be enjoying the truly hearfelt and aromatic results of that turkey. Warning however, keep it silent if you can, and then glare accusingly at the nearest male member of the family."
DOG LETTERS TO GOD
Dear God: Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the beagle across the street!
Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God: Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets thing, again?
Dear God: Can you undo what that vet did?

My Sister bought me a beautiful PINK bike to help me get my strength back after chemo treatment. I enjoyed it so much but wanted somehow to include my WFT Angel in the fun. I happened on a web site called "Hunter K9 Gear" and they had these adorable doggie bike buggies. I sent for one appropriate for Angel's size, the "mini trailer". She was hesitant at first and on our first ride she jumped out. I had a leash on her which was tied to the buggy, so she didn't get far and I was going very slow, so no damage done. After that, she decided she LOVED her bike rides and has added this to her vocabulary. "Bike ride" starts her tail wagging so fast it's like a humming bird's wings! We take a 2-5 mile ride every day, weather permitting, and enjoy every minute. People are always smiling and commenting on how cute it is. I call her my "Biker Babe". A couple things I recommend if you do this: (1) attach a good rear-view mirror so you can see your dog without turning around, and (2) make sure you secure the dog in the cart in case he/she decides to chase a squirrel or dog along the way. The Christmas and Hanukkah Store is open and ready for your business.
The Christmas Puppy
Any holiday is not a good time to acquire a new puppy, and Christmas, with all the activity and decorations can really be the worst possible time. It can be dangerous for the puppy in so many ways and he can never get the care and time that he deserves when he first comes into a new home. Responsible breeders will never sell a "Christmas puppy".
If you wish to acquire a puppy or adult at this time of the year, put a stuffed puppy toy under the tree and a note that after the holidays it will be turned in for a real puppy. Wait until all the decorations are down and life is back to normal, and then bring home that new family member.
Extremely important **** puppies and kittens should NEVER be given to anyone as a surprise gift. Even if they have said in the past that they would "love to have a puppy", it is up to that person to decide which puppy they want and when they want it. You can certainly give them a "gift certificate" for a puppy or adult dog, noting that you will be paying for it, but the receiver must really want that pet and be able to pick it out. They are the ones that will be paying for the next 12-15 yrs for this dog and making the concessions in their lives for it too.
Puppies are wonderful, but they deserve to come into a home that wants them and to have the care and attention that they deserve to get started right. That is not going to happen during the holidays or if they are given as a gift.
